What our server logs

Every time you open a page, your browser sends our server your IP address, the address of the page, the page you came from and your browser’s user agent. The server logs these with the time and whether the request worked. We use the logs to deliver the pages, keep the site running, and spot and block attacks. That’s our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, and if you ask, we’ll tell you how we weighed it against your privacy. No law or contract makes you give us this data, but without your IP address a page can’t reach your screen.

What stays on your device

We set no cookies. When the FPS test or the refresh rate test finishes, your browser saves the result in its local storage, up to your last 8 runs of each, so the page can list your earlier runs. They never leave your device, and the Clear button under the list deletes them.

When the screen resolution page links you to the PPI calculator, your width and height go after a # in the address. Browsers never send that part to a server, so we don’t get them.

What we don’t load

Every font, image and script comes from this site. There are no analytics, ads, social media buttons or embedded videos, and nothing here makes automated decisions about you.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or limit how we use it. Our logs don’t carry names, so to find your lines we need your IP address and roughly when you visited.

Your right to object

You can object at any time to our use of your data to keep the site running and secure. We then stop, unless we have compelling reasons that outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms, or need the data for a legal claim.

Complaints

If you think we’ve broken data protection law, you can complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work, or where you think it happened.
